A dentist is a person who practices and prompts dental hygiene; they are trained professionals who take care of teeth, mouth, and gums. Having a regular visit to the dentist helps in maintaining a good level of oral health. They not only help in the impairments but also take care of tooth decay, filling cavities and providing necessary treatment for it. Also helps in developing facial features if there is any problem related to it.

The most interesting part of this career is a relatable study that included the muscles of the head, neck, jawline with the nervous system of the head and neck.

 

A dental course is a degree in dental science, it is an undergraduate course and awarded with the Bachelor of DentalSurgerymany students are in a dilemma to choose over BDS Or MBBS though there is a common entrance test.

 

Reason to choose BDS over MBBS:

 

Course fee:

The important factor is the fee structure; it's comparatively less compared to MBBS, it is cost-effective compared to MBBS.

 

Stress-free:

It's a stress-free job compared to MBBS. The dentist doesn’t have any emergency calls, as they have to deal with infection and toothache. Dental is a good profession for females.

 

A career in BDS:

Opting for Dental as a career is highly lucrative. The actual earnings of MBBS start very late as dentists start their earnings soon after the course completion. Although MBBS will remain the first choice for most of us, the above reason is best suggested to opt for BDS.

  

Eligibility to become a dentist: 

 

To become a dentist one should have passed out in 12th or equivalent examination with science stream in physics, chemistry, and biology. Candidates must appear for national medical exams.

NEET-UG admission of dental which is National level entrance which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

 

Candidates must have passed in 12th examination, with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks, and 40% marks in the case of reserved category.

the candidate must have a valid NEET scorecard.

The candidate should be above 17 years of age to appear in NEET-UG EXAM and the upper age limit of the above should be 25 years.

1. Orthodontist: Their job is to check all dental records, examine the medical history, and design the teeth module to correct the irregularity of the patient.

  

2. Periodontists:  They are skilled professionals who are responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases. Such as gums and tissues which support the teeth.

 

3. Oral surgeons: they help in treating abnormal growth of gums and jaws perform surgeries related to the mouth and facial deformities.

 

4. Endodontists: They examine the tooth pulp and root canals which include both blood vessels and nerves.

 

5. Prosthodontists: They control the prostheses to replace the missing teeth and to build the structure based on jaws.

 

6. Pedodontists: They practice in children’s dental treatment and care.

 

Salary of dentist: 

 

It’s a booming profession in India as we are a fast-food consuming country and there is an emerging business in India. The average pay of a dentist in a year can be INR 7,00,000.

With a few years of practice, it can reach up to INR 10,00,000-15,00,000 per year.
